Brian Chapuran, a veteran Judge Advocate with the United States Army, has joined Maynard Nexsen as counsel in its Government Solutions Group.
Brian has been stationed throughout the Southeast, at the Pentagon and in Iraq with the U.S. Embassy and the Department of Defense. During Brian’s time in Iraq as a legal advisor he worked with the Chief of the Office of Security Cooperation-Iraq on all legal issues raised by security cooperation missions in post-war Iraq. During that time, he provided legal advice as well as written opinions on issues involving international and diplomatic law, government contract law, fiscal law and investigations and criminal law issues surrounding civilian contractors.
In addition, Brian has represented the Army in contract litigation before the Armed Services Board of Contract Appeals and the Government Accountability Office, and has assisted the Department of Justice with cases in the Court of Federal Claims.
Brian received his law degree from Wake Forest University School of Law in 2000. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s School where he received his LLM in 2009.
“We are honored Brian has chosen to bring his talents to our firm. His diverse skill set and breadth of experience in both military and civilian practices will bring a highly specialized perspective to the Government Solutions Group. We are excited for Brian to join the team and look forward to sharing his expertise with our clients,” said Andy Watson, a Maynard Nexsen shareholder and Government Solutions Group co-chair.
