Overview
Bryan is a seasoned Intellectual Property, Cyber, and Privacy attorney, and veteran of the information technology industry. He has guided clients to successful outcomes through the use of his broad engineering knowledge and straightforward legal analysis.
In the patent sphere Bryan assists in capturing organizational knowledge, developing intellectual property assets, and enforcing those rights. Bryan has specialized experience in electrical and computational arts. Including deep knowledge of artificial intelligence and the respective subsets of machine learning, reinforcement learning, natural language processing, and general logic and reasoning. He has also played a key role in developing portfolios involving smart medical devices, robotics, IoT, automated manufacturing, and FinTech.
On the trademark side, Bryan routinely counsels advertising and marketing units on brand usage and clearance. He is further versed in protecting the valuable reputation of brand owners through enforcement proceedings.
On the privacy front, Bryan is a certified IAPP Information Privacy Professional. He works with all sizes of organizations in implementing and developing a privacy by design compliance program. He further works alongside deal teams to ensure that IT risks are transparent on both the buy and sell side. On the cyber compliance front, Bryan’s technical skills allow him to work alongside IT teams, to speak the language, and to coordinate with vendors and third-parties to develop a robust preventative program.
Bryan further assists general counsels and c-suite members with a wide range of IT issues. For example, he has served as product counsel, counsel for fund raising and IP valuation, and counsel for technology transactions.

Federal Court Representation
- Represented a national telecommunications company in defending against patent infringement claims related to advanced mobile networking technologies. As defense counsel, Bryan’s responsibilities included pleadings, responsive motions, and an early drafting of a judgment on the pleadings. Bryan served an integral role within the joint defense team, defending against a coordinated non practicing entity.
- Represented a middleware software company in exercising its patent portfolio against infringers of its building materials customization software. A long-time dominant player in the building materials customization space, Bryan’s client faced increased competition and new market entrants that sought to take advantage of their patented technologies.
Patent Trial and Appeal Board
- Defended a software company before the PTAB on an IPR petition. As lead counsel on the case Bryan drafted the preliminary response to the IPR petition. Prior to institution Bryan was capable of negotiating a settlement agreement saving the client large sums and a potential resulting IPR administrative hearing.
Privacy & Cyber
- Bring has worked alongside a broad range of organizations to bring them into compliance and to do so with minimum disruptions. Bryan brings with him a proactive approach to privacy and cyber compliance, he has worked diligently to align privacy policies, terms of use, and other product agreements so that clients can cut through the red tape and focus on delivering quality products and services.
- Bryan serves as IT counsel on diligence matters, and other corporate transactions, he is instrumental in having a successful deal. Most companies have exposure to various digital threats, Bryan assists in making the risks known, and assists in drafting favorable terms for his clients.
Trademark Trial and Appeal Board
- Represented a foreign company in an opposition proceeding. As lead counsel Bryan negotiated terms acceptable to the client and worked an agreement with opposing counsel to amend the description of the goods and services that both saved the client money and registered the mark.
- Represented a start up in the smart apparel industry in an opposition proceeding. As lead counsel Bryan was able to negotiate a consent and move the mark to issuance.
