Overview
Dave Cannon has practiced in the areas of administrative law, state, federal, and local liquor law and licensing, tax matters, zoning, as well as hospitality, real estate, and business transactions.
Dave and the Licensing Team have represented local and national clients in the hotel, retail store, pharmaceutical industry, and restaurant industry with state, local, and federal licensing issues. His licensing experience also includes representation of suppliers, including first-tier industry members such as wineries, breweries, and nonresident vendors in licensing matters and product and label approval matters.
Dave has advised clients in connection with organizational and structural issues including North Carolina regulatory tied house issues. He has appeared before the North Carolina ABC Commission representing clients in connection with tied house issues, and other regulatory and enforcement matters.
Active in the community, Dave has served in leadership roles with the Mecklenburg County Bar as an officer of the Bar, Chairman of the Finance Committee, and on its Executive Committee. In addition, he has served at Myers Park United Methodist Church as Chair of its Administrative Board and on its Race Forward Committee.
Dave also served three years active duty in the Navy, graduating from the Navy Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island, and later as an officer aboard the USS Shenandoah.
