Overview
Demarcus is an Associate in Maynard Nexsen’s Economic Development and Government Affairs practice groups.
Demarcus has a demonstrated history of working in public policy. While working for the University of Alabama System, one of Alabama’s largest employers, Demarcus was able to help draft legislation and advisory materials that positively affected the entire System and the State.
Demarcus holds a J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law, where he was a member of the Bench and Bar Legal Honor Society and Blackburn Institute. He earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Alabama, where he had the honor to serve as the 109th President of the Student Government Association. In this role, Demarcus led over 37,000 students through the COVID-19 pandemic. Working with governmental officials, the University of Alabama System, and institutional leadership, Demarcus was able to help enact policies and procedures to ensure students could continue on-campus learning and activities. Also, during his senior year, Demarcus was awarded the Dr. Morris Lehman Mayer Premier Award, the Autherine Lucy Foster Award, and was tapped into the Jasons Senior Men’s Honorary.
