Overview
George Smith is based out of the Firm's Raleigh office, where he practices in the areas of economic development, corporate law, and state and local taxation. George's economic development practice focuses on representing companies seeking to relocate or expand operations in the southeast, including site selection and negotiating with the state and local officials on economic development incentives. His list of clients that he has advised includes companies based in Finland, Korea, China, Denmark, Canada, and Poland. George has represented various industry sectors, including EV suppliers, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, and sports and entertainment. His corporate practice includes a focus on investment funds, mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, and recapitalizations. For tax-related matters, George concentrates on representing companies and individuals before the North Carolina Property Tax Commission, administrative and regulatory boards and commissions, and the General Assembly and Executive branch. Additionally, George has significant experience in land use and local government matters.
