Overview
Katie is an Associate in Maynard Nexsen’s Government Investigations and White Collar Defense practice group. She is a skilled defense attorney with experience in North Carolina’s state and federal courts.
She has experience working as a criminal defense attorney, where she primarily represents clients in North Carolina state courts. She interned with the Forsyth County District Attorney’s Office and the Mecklenburg Public Defender’s Office while in law school. Katie is skilled at handling complex civil litigation matters.
Prior to joining Maynard Nexsen, Katie was an attorney at Dysart Willis, supporting criminal and civil litigation matters.
Katie holds a J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law. During law school, Katie participated in the Innocence and Justice Clinic and served as Counsel for the Respondent on Honor Council, where she represented students accused of violating the Honor Code. She also competed with the Wake Forest Moot Court. She earned her B.A.S. in Paralegal Studies from the University of Mississippi.
Katie serves as the treasurer of the Young Lawyer's Division of the Wake County Bar Association. Katie will be overseeing the summer clerk orientation hosted by the YLD for the second year. She will begin serving on the Rose Council at WFU School of Law in July 2024.

Katie enjoys spending time with her husband and friends and doing yoga.

- Represented individual charged with failure to pay income taxes and negotiated deferred prosecution which led to dismissal of all charges
- Sat Second Chair during federal jury trial in the Eastern District of North Carolina
