Overview
Matthew is an Associate in Maynard Nexsen’s Labor & Employment practice group. He represents employers of all sizes in employment litigation and counsels businesses on compliance and best practices to prevent litigation.
Matthew is experienced in litigating a wide range of employment matters, including cases involving wage and hour disputes, OSHA citations, non-compete violations, and discrimination and retaliation claims brought under the ADA, ADEA, and Title VII. He also has extensive experience handling OSHA whistleblower complaints and has successfully defended businesses in high-stakes class and collective actions.
Beyond litigation, Matthew proactively counsels companies on best practices for compliance with labor and employment laws, including developing company policies and procedures. He also helps companies navigate employee discipline and separation decisions.
Prior to joining Maynard Nexsen, Matthew worked as an Associate at a national labor & employment firm, supporting workplace safety and health and class actions and complex litigation groups.
Matthew holds a J.D. from the Wake Forest University School of Law. During law school, he interned in the legal department of a Fortune 500 company, supporting labor and employment matters. He also interned in the legal department of an international manufacturing company located in upstate South Carolina. Matthew earned his B.S. in Construction Science and Management from Clemson University.
