Overview

Neal Robbins brings over decade of legal experience to the firm's Economic Development Group in North Carolina. He served as the Director of Legislative & Intergovernmental Affairs for the State of North Carolina's Department of Environment and Natural Resources from 2013-2015. Previously, he held the role of Policy Advisor for Environment and Information Technology for the Governor Elect.

He practiced in the Triad area for more than six years, including three at his firm Robbins Law, where his work included the following:

  • Represented buyers and sellers in acquisition transactions
  • Represented debtors in U.S. Bankruptcy Court
  • Represented banks and commercial lenders in North Carolina foreclosure cases
  • Advised clients and trade organizations on pending legislation and regulatory changes
  • Represented business interests in civil litigation
  • Represented political campaigns and political action committees

Robbins has previously clerked for the United States Senate (Subcommittees on Bioterrorism and Public Health Preparedness). He was also a clerk for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina.

Outside Maynard Nexsen

Neal founded North State Media LLC and is the publisher of the North State Journal, North Carolina's first and only statewide newspaper. His management of the newspaper and media company includes five digital and one print publication. He advises reporters and editors on legal issues, and negotiates contracts with national and international vendors.
