Overview

Paul is an Associate in Maynard Nexsen’s Intellectual Property practice group and a licensed patent attorney.

During law school, Paul served as the team captain for the National Patent Application Drafting Competition team. In this role, he trained with practicing patent attorneys and gained experience searching USPTO, WIPO, and EPO databases for potential §102 & §103 disclosures and drafting claims and specifications on a hypothetical invention. He also worked under Judge David R. Proctor of the Northern District of Alabama and helped prepare a judicial opinion for a trade secrets case that involved complex software issues, as well as provided technical expertise to Judge Proctor. 

Paul previously was a Summer Associate with Maynard Nexsen and externed for Volunteer Lawyers Birmingham.

Paul holds a J.D. from the Samford University Cumberland School of Law. During law school, he worked as a Senior Research Editor for the Cumberland Law Review and was President of the Intellectual Property Legal Society. He also received CALI Awards in Evidence and Contracts I. Paul earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering, cum laude, from Auburn University.
