Maynard Nexsen, a full-service law firm with 24 offices across the United States, is pleased to welcome David Rains as a Shareholder in the Firm’s Corporate & Business Transactions practice group. For the past six years, David has served as General Counsel for a nationwide data and digital company and before that he was in private practice for over 18 years in both corporate and litigation roles. David’s broad experience encompasses managing complex commercial transactions, mitigating high-stakes business risks, and developing robust compliance frameworks for businesses.

David’s focus at Maynard will be on providing outside General Counsel and Business Advisory services for clients from both the legal and business perspectives.  “With his years of experience as General Counsel and in private practice, David provides invaluable knowledge and first-hand experience to Maynard Nexsen’s sophisticated platform of services that we provide to our business clients,” said Greg Curran, Chairman of the Firm. “As a former General Counsel, David knows what other in-house counsel and clients without in-house counsel need from their advisors.  We want to leverage David’s unique experience and are looking forward to all that David will accomplish here with our team of corporate attorneys.”

As both in-house and outside counsel, David has experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic business transactions; advising clients on entity formation, corporate governance, contract negotiation and management, regulatory compliance, labor and employment issues, and intellectual property matters; and navigating and coordinating dispute resolution.  He regularly coordinates with legal specialists from other practice groups of the Firm and acts as a primary point of contact for the management of our client’s legal needs.   

David earned his J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law and his B.A. from Birmingham-Southern College.
