Nexsen Pruet Attorney Marguerite Willis Interviewed by Litigation Counsel of America President About Gender Diversity
Nexsen Pruet attorney Marguerite Willis was recently interviewed by Litigation Counsel of America President Michael Ehrenstein about gender diversity in the legal profession, offering insight into the value of female lawyers and detailing her own barrier-breaking career.
Ehrenstein said he sought to interview Willis because she “is a knowledgeable, incisive, and compelling trial lawyer primarily focused on major anti-trust litigation.”
“No arm-chair activist, Marguerite ‘walks the walk,’ having shattered glass ceilings along her career path,” Ehrenstein said in a newsletter to LCA Fellows. The LCA is an invitation-only trial lawyer honorary society established to reflect “the new face of the American bar.”
Over the course of her four decades in the legal profession, Willis became the first female law clerk ever hired by a Federal Circuit Court Judge, the first female associate ever hired at a Charlotte firm and the first woman partner at a major antitrust firm. She also led the effort to establish the Nexsen Pruet Women’s Leadership Institute with the goal of developing and mentoring the firm’s next generation of influential women.
