Overview
Amanda is Of Counsel in Maynard Nexsen’s Insurance practice group. Her practice focuses on advising insurance clients on regulatory and compliance issues and representing clients before various Departments of Insurance in licensing and ongoing business.
Amanda has extensive experience in the public legal sector drafting administrative rules and legislation and providing legal counsel to various program areas and in the private legal sector implementing health care reform and drafting and reviewing contracts, corporate documents, and insurance coverage documents.
She is skilled in helping insurance clients respond to regulatory audits, draft insurance coverage documents and policyholder communications, obtain state licensure and form approval, and obtain regulatory approval of insurance company acquisitions and organizational restructuring. She regularly advises insurance clients on a wide range of state and federal regulatory matters, various affiliate arrangements, provider and vendor contracts, federal and state coverage requirements, and privacy laws. She also advises insurance agents, third-party administrators, and utilization review agents on licensing and compliance issues.
Prior to joining Maynard Nexsen, Amanda worked at a full-service national law firm, the Texas Department of Insurance, and served as in-house counsel for a large non-profit health system.
Amanda holds a J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law. She earned her B.A. in Classics, magna cum laude, from The Ohio State University and an M.A. in Counseling from St. Edward’s University.
