Attorney Andrew Saleeby has been appointed to the City of Columbia’s Design and Development Review Commission (DDRC).

Saleeby is a Special Counsel with Nexsen Pruet's state and local tax team in Columbia. His three-year appointment runs from September 2020 until September 2023.

“The DDRC is responsible for, among other important functions, the City program that provides tax incentives for developers who are revitalizing historic buildings and landmarks,” said Leighton Lord, the firm’s board chairman. “Considering his experience with taxation, regulations and economic development - this community service is a natural fit for Andrew.”

In addition to administering the City’s Bailey Bill Historic Properties Tax Abatement Program, the DDRC also reviews and approves or denies proposals for work in historic districts and other designated areas. And, the commission handles issues that arise involving abandoned buildings, façade improvements and preservation.

Prior to joining Nexsen Pruet, Andrew Saleeby was a policy counselor and litigator with the the South Carolina Department of Revenue. He earned his degrees from the University of South Carolina Upstate, the UofSC Moore School of Business, the UofSC Law School and the New York University School of Law.
