Columbia Business Monthly and Greenville Business Magazine recognized Leighton Lord, Nexsen Pruet’s Chairman, and Jim Warren, Nexsen Pruet’s Greenville Office Managing Partner, among their “50 Most Influential List” for 2022.
The annual list, selected by staff research and community nominations, honors the region’s most influential people.

Leighton Lord, Chairman, Nexsen Pruet
Leighton Lord practices in the areas of economic development, corporate, partnership and real estate law. His legal practice has a special emphasis on siting economic development projects, real estate transactions, real estate financing, general business law, and formation and opinions on Delaware entities.
Lord is the current chairman of the firm and also serves as chairman of Nexsen Pruet’s communications affiliate, NP Strategy, LLC. Lord’s legal experience includes having clerked for the Delaware Chancery Court before practicing corporate litigation in Wilmington, Delaware, He served for three years as staff counsel to the U.S. Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations and formally served on South Carolina’s Coordinating Council for Economic Development and is the former Chairman of Santee Cooper, South Carolina’s electric and water utility. Lord earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Delaware, and his J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School. He is admitted to practice in South Carolina and Delaware.
Jim Warren, Managing Partner, Nexsen Pruet
Jim Warren advises lenders, investors, developers, and public and private companies in a broad range of real estate and economic development transactions.
With a background that spans more than three decades, he helps clients navigate the development and acquisition of retail, industry, and commercial properties. Warren has been recognized by Chambers, Martindale-Hubbell, Super Lawyers, and Legal Elite on a number of occasions for real estate law and was named the Greenville Real Estate “Lawyer of the Year” by Best Lawyers in 2013.
Admitted to the bar in South Carolina as well as Georgia, he has an undergraduate degree from Duke University and his J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School.
