Maynard & Gale (Maynard) continues to grow with the recent addition of experienced lawyers in several areas of practice across its footprint. The Firm is pleased to welcome Angela Playle to its Real Estate practice in Nashville, Christopher Lee and Jordan LaPorta to its Litigation practice in Huntsville and Birmingham, and Karen Tsui to its Insurance and Financial Services Litigation practice in Los Angeles.

Angela Playle is a seasoned corporate attorney with 20+ years of legal experience and real estate industry expertise. Working in the Firm’s Nashville office, Playle focuses her practice on healthcare real estate law, real estate investment trusts (REIT), corporate transactions, operational risk management, commercial real estate, and general contract law. Serving clients across the U.S. and Southeast, she leads and collaborates with deal teams to close acquisitions, sales, development projects, leases, and other projects. Prior to Maynard, Playle was Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for a significant healthcare REIT with $20 billion of owned real estate. She earned her J.D. from Emory University School of Law and holds a B.A. from Vanderbilt University.
Christopher Lee joins as Of Counsel in the Firm’s Huntsville office. He is an experienced litigator representing clients in federal and state courts in civil and criminal matters, as well as administrative law matters, probate matters, political law, and government relations. Lee will practice with the Firm’s Correctional Litigation practice. Before joining Maynard, Lee was the principal attorney for an Alabama firm. He received his J.D. from The American University, Washington College of Law, and holds a B.A. from Morehouse College. Lee also was a judicial extern for The Honorable Henry H. Kennedy, Jr. for The United States District Court for the District of Columbia.
Jordan LaPorta is an Associate in Maynard’s Litigation Section, where he works on various complex matters such as class actions, commercial business litigation, and antitrust disputes. Before joining the Firm, LaPorta served as a law clerk for Judge Sharon L. Blackburn of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama and Justice Jay Mitchell of the Alabama Supreme Court. He earned his J.D., cum laude, from The University of Alabama School of Law and holds a B.A., summa cum laude, in History and Political Science from The University of Alabama.
Karen Tsui is an experienced litigator practicing from Maynard’s Los Angeles office. Tsui joins as an Associate in the Firm’s Insurance and Financial Services practice with a background in insurance coverage disputes, bad faith liability actions, and other contractual disputes. She focuses her practice on ERISA and employee benefits, including the representation of insurers in life, health, and disability litigation. Tsui earned her J.D. from Loyola Law School and holds a B.A. from the University of California at Los Angeles. While attending law school, Tsui served as a judicial extern in the Los Angeles Superior Court.
